River Regions

River regions give you gold from hydroelectric power. They also fish, so every river grows a small amount of food each turn. You get both together.

A river pays less gold than a Coastal, Desert or Mountain region, because part of its output goes to fishing instead. What it gives you in return is steadiness: river gold barely swings from turn to turn, while the others can have a poor turn.

The food is a bonus, not a food supply. One river grows about a tenth of what one agricultural region grows. Buy rivers for the gold and the steadiness; buy agricultural regions when you need to feed people.
