River Regions

River regions give you gold from hydroelectric power. They also fish, so every river grows a small amount of food each turn. You get both together.

Part of a river's output goes to fishing, so it pays less gold on average than a Desert region, or a Coastal region while Support is high. It pays about the same as a Mountain region. What it gives you in return is steadiness: river gold barely swings from turn to turn, while the others can have a poor turn.

The food is small: one river grows about a tenth of what one agricultural region grows. Buy rivers for the gold and the steadiness; buy agricultural regions when you need to feed people.
